Team McCracken Updates: Issue #9
Team McCracken Updates
Issue #9
Recent Successes: Armed Forces BBQ, Memorial Parade, 103rd Collegiate Peaks Rodeo and VFW Dance in BV ,
frequent and enthusiastic supporters, placing a first round of large highway signs
Upcoming Events: FIBArk Parade, July 4th, (lots to do this day) Chaffee County Rodeo, signs, phone calls and meeting
with voters and supporters
Calls to Action:
Plan to participate in the FIBArk Parade next Saturday
Plan to make a contribution, no matter the size. Our Website claims we can only contribute $2500
but my registered agent says the real limit is $2850. (Either is fine.)
Plan to register a new voter.
Plan to request a sign or host a house visit for you and possible guests.
Plan to attend a leadership meeting to lay out some of our next events.
Thank you again for the incredibly successful and impactful Armed Forces Day BBQ in Poncha Springs.
We are still feeling the ripple effects of that event. Our immediate impact reached local printed papers and
Social Media with name recognition and the opportunity to make visual and substantial change to the leadership
in the Chaffee County Valley.
Jerry Cunningham introduces Dennis Hunter, who read the poem crafted by US Army SSGT
George W Blake, a survivor of the Attack on Pearl Harbor. The last line reminds us to CHERISH every
day and count them all as gifts.
WHY YOU AND NOT ME?
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!
I would like to make a simple request.
I know the FIBArk Parade is not like the BBQ. Regardless, it will be a great way to get mentioned
in the local media, expand our name recognition into the outdoor crowd and maybe even have a little fun
while we’re at it. I will have my big river running (Avon) raft on the back of my trailer and I would be
honored to have you walk with us in the parade. We will gather out by the park and travel F street to
downtown. That would be it! A big crowd of us walking in red will demonstrate some substantial
momentum to the local crowd and continue to grow our brand.
FIBArk Parade details
I have registered us for the next parade! We’ll decorate the truck with merch and pull the trailer with the
raft on the back. Folks should wear items like red shirts, straw cowboy hats or
McCracken Hats or Hawaiian shirts.
We will not really plan on getting in the water. (It is pretty high right now!) Some will carry the banner.
We will decorate the truck on site that morning with Merch. We will HAND OUT candy and Dog Treats.
We will walk in the parade and expect a few other young people from the Rodeo Dance to join us as well.
After the parade, there will be LOTS of carnie food vendors in town. The parade starts at 10 and it will be
substantially bigger than the Memorial Day Parade. The newspapers will have people there.
We should plan to arrive at about 9:00. A few of us parked cars on the street or in the church parking lot.
We’ll assemble at the F Street Park in Salida about 9:15, then decorate together
Get on the raft or walk! We’ll need walkers to pass out candy and dog treats.
Others will carry banners and signs. We’ll all decorate the truck.
Carnie Food after that?
What did I forget?
The Business of Things: Signs, Meetings, Finances and Voter Registration.
What a sport, Jennifer Barker! :) Thank you Todd Tipton and the CCRCC!
The next Chaffee County Republican Central Committee (CCRCC) mtg at Sangre de Cristo in Buena Vista at 6:00 on June 18
I will be there to talk about upcoming campaign events and voter contacts and registration ideas.
Speaking of VOTER CONTACTS, are you registered to vote?
Here is the link from the Colorado Secretary of State to register or change affiliation to vote.
For instance, it may be time for some of these recent high school graduates to register for their first national
and local election in November. Below is an idea of the money invested in the campaigns so far in Colorado.
Hmmm. It appears we are dead @55 last!
I know we are not the President T. campaign but it might be helpful to have just 1% of 1%!
Again, as we try to be good stewards of these resources, we are reminded to remain disciplined and
thrifty in ALL our acquisitions. The Treasure is consulted on nearly EVERY purchase!
Here’s where you can contribute financially to the
TOM MCCRACKEN FOR CHAFFEE COUNTY campaign.
Of course you have returned your MAIL-IN Ballot. THANK YOU.
We just got ours today. We’ll mail them back tomorrow. Of course the results will be interesting!
If we are ahead, (I hate even putting that in writing), they will begin a full frontal attack and we will
need to double our efforts. If we are behind, we will need to triple our efforts!
Our Summer focus will be on maximizing our impact and minimizing our expenses.
Once the fall hits, we expect things to really gear up! Ads, radio, mailers, phone calls and door knocking.
That excites me. Who’s in?
Signs
We took delivery on a few more signs (18). These are still the large 4’x8’ signs for the unincorporated
Chaffee County locations. We will order the yard signs for July and August delivery to the team. Then on MONDAY AUGUST 5th, we will all put them out on the same day. We want the community to see a bunch more show up on that
Monday. This will show the depth of supporters EVERYWHERE.
If you are NOT in a municipality (Salida or Buena Vista) you may put signs up early.
Feel free to let me know and I can get you one. I usually have signs and merch in my truck for
handing out to other supporters. Hats, shirts, bling, car magnets etc. What would work for you?
The Rodeo Dance brought out the best smiles,
Treats and behaviors in the entire crowd.
The 103rd Collegiate Peaks Rodeo Dance was a huge hit.
The great diversity of the crowd made our impact even greater in the community. Thank you
Then, from The Buena Vista Rodeo Road,
The 103rd Collegiate Peaks Stampede Rodeo and Dance
I have ridden a little bit. I can’t even imagine trying to stay on or land properly. NO!
By sponsoring the dance, we were able to hang a banner on the rodeo fencing for all the grandstand to see.
Look at these cowgirls from Texas sporting the bling!
The clean and patriotic color scheme works well with anything. Let’s get you a sign too!
Text Tom at 7193983187 to get or reserve yours.
From the dance on Friday night to the events starting Saturday at 5:30 and carrying over again
Sunday at 12:30, there were events for all. The kids had multiple interest items. My favorite was the
coins tossed in the sand pile and the bronco riding.
I hear the 37th Annual Chaffee County Rodeo even has an old fashioned baking contest.
JAYNE! Gooey Butter Cake or Carrot Cake? What would you suggest?
Chaffee County Rodeo
From July 26 (Friday) till August 4 (Sunday) is our next big event to support ranchers and the local economy.
After the fun we had at the 103rd Collegiate Peaks Rodeo and VFW Dance, we are looking into how we
might get involved with the Chaffee County Rodeo. It is a little different format but there is a
cake baking contest, Jayne. More details will follow.
What do we need throughout the summer?
Big signs in high traffic locations make a huge impact on name recognition.
Do you have a spot for us to install a large sign?
Can we put up a large sign or would you like a small sign for in town?
Would you host a home visit or smaller intimate crowd to hear more about the platform and
positions and perspectives? Instead of the elevator version we could share the living room version with
back and forth questions and comments. This is often a good time to ask specific questions .
If you are interested in joining us in our planning meetings, reach out to Tom at 7193983187 or
email tom@tommccrackenforchaffeecounty.com
You may also reach out to someone you know already on Team McCracken. The red shirts are a giveaway!
Plan to invite us…
Plan to let us know about events that you feel we may or may not know about.
We love to meet and greet wherever people are gathered.
It is such an honor and privilege to meet so many of you.
Please reach out to the campaign and see how you might engage.
